Virtual Orientation

Welcome to all of our new and returning families! It is our hope everyone is having a wonderful, relaxing summer and that you will be ready to join us as we embark on another journey of learning. Like so many things, this pandemic has created challenges for how we would like to introduce you to our school. We invite you to participate in our Virtual Orientation.

What to Expect:

Some of our leaders here at SRACS will share about our school, scheduling, daily routines, technology, and activities.

  • Welcoming Remarks from Principal Ed Navarro.
  • Assistant Principal, Kateland Weighall, will present information about how SRACS will operate in Distance Learning, including class schedules and daily routines.
  • Some of our teachers will inform you about school policies, including attendance, grading, and Zoom etiquette.
  • Student Family Parent Organization (SFPO) Presidents, Ann Gospe and Denise Rose, will share how you can get involved with our school.

Families will also have an opportunity to ask questions live during a follow-up Virtual Q&A: Coffee with the Principals, on August 21st at 9:00 am.

Parent Checklist: May Be Completed Prior to Orientation

✅  ParentSquare - Activate your account. Santa Rosa City Schools’ partnership with ParentSquare will enable stronger communication between school and home and will empower everyone within the school community to stay connected and informed. Please find more information, the “Getting Started” videos, and links to the free ParentSquare mobile app on the SRCS web page: ParentSquare - Communication with Parents.

✅  Illuminate Home Connection - Set up your Parent Portal. If you created an account for your student last year, you will continue with the same account this year. Any notifications you set up for your account last year should continue to function. If you have a student new to the district or did not create your account, you will need an account activation code to get started. You can obtain your code from the registrar at your child’s school. To activate your account, please go to Santa Rosa City Schools’ Parent Portal and follow the steps outlined below to activate your account.

✅  ClassLink - Enroll your account. Classlink allows you to quickly reset your own SRCS password using your phone, alternative email address (OTHER than the SRCS email address), or security questions. You need to enroll first. Follow these instructions to enroll your account for password recovery when you log in for the very first time.

✅  Chromebook Distribution - Take the quick survey. Every student will be issued a Chromebook. To use your SRCS Chromebook for distance learning you will have to add it to a wifi internet network. This could be your home wifi network, cell phone hot-spot, or a hot-spot provided by Santa Rosa City Schools. To speed up our Distribution Day process, please take this QUICK SURVEY.

✅  SFPO Directory - Provide your contact information. The SFPO currently produces a PDF directory of contact information that includes all currently enrolled SRACS students who have returned this form allowing the school to share contact information. These PDF directories are emailed to each SRACS family at no cost and are made possible by the volunteer hours of those who compile this information. It is for the sole purpose and benefit of our school community and will not be used for commercial purposes. Please complete the SFPO Directory Sheet (google form).

✅  Media Release Form - Electronically sign. Representatives from the news media or the SRCS district office often visit the school campus to take photographs or videotape of students involved in various educational activities. Additionally, the school and/or district will take photographs of school activities to include in print and website publications, including digital or electronic promotional media forms. Please indicate whether your student has your permission to be photographed, videotaped, or interviewed while at school and to have those images distributed through print or electronic media sources. Electronic signatures are required from a Parent/Guardian to complete the Media Release Form (google form).

✅  Ways to Give - Donate to our school. Each year we rely on family donations to our charter school. 100% of your generous donations go directly towards funding our student’s educational experience. Please visit our website to see all the different Ways to Give to our school this year.

✅  2020-21 Student Handbook/Planner - Read and electronically sign. The school planner will be distributed after the Virtual Orientation, but you can access a PDF of the handbook hereYour student is expected to utilize the planner every day for keeping organized. Make sure that you and your family have READ, UNDERSTOOD, and AGREE to follow all the rules, policies, procedures, and disclosures in the Santa Rosa Accelerated Charter School 2020-2021 Student Handbook / Planner. Electronic signatures are required from both Student and Parent/Guardian to complete the Acknowledgment of Student Handbook/Planner (google form)
