Advanced Placement for 2020/21

Message from Santa Rosa City Schools Department of Teaching & Learning, Dr. Rani Goyal, April 8, 2020

We hope this message finds you well as we provide an update on the SRCS Advanced Math 7 placement testing. We realize that with so much happening during this challenging time, and with the current extended Shelter in Place Order, we need to revise our process for placement in Advanced Math.

The process outlined below applies to SRCS and non-SRCS students in the 6th grade who are entering 7th grade and would like to be considered for Advanced Math 7.

If a student has NOT taken the DMDA6 (District Math Diagnostic Assessment), they should take it at home.

  • Please go to the SRCS website (

    • Go to announcements and look for Advanced Math 7 Test; this will redirect you to the Advanced Math 7 information page. On this page, then click on the DMDA 6 link.

  • Students should work independently.

  • Students should not work for longer than 45 minutes.

  • Students should take the test by May 8, 2020.

  • The results will be available at the end of May. These will be shared with your principal.

The criteria for consideration are essentially the same as before:

  • A score of 3 or 4 on 5th-grade SBAC

  • 3s or 4s or A or B on the 6th-grade math report card

  • Passing the DMDA6

  • If a student does not pass the DMDA6, then an opportunity to take a different test will be given over the summer if our situation improves by the end of June. If not, the test will be given at the beginning of 7th grade.
